As schools have moved back to full in-person learning and restrictions around the globe start to relax, I feel that it is important that we remind ourselves of why we do what we do. Whether you are a Kiwanian or a Key Club officer, the shift from virtual to in-person Leadership will be difficult. But I encourage you to keep this quote in mind.
“Your gifts are not about you. Leadership is not about You. Your purpose is not about You. A life of significance is about serving those who need your gifts, your leadership, your purpose.”
- Kevin Hall, author “Aspire”
My reason for coming back and teaching at Leilehua and becoming a Kiwanian was to give back to the community and be the same type of teacher who influenced how I am today. But to be that type of teacher, I need to be able to inspire my students to WANT to do their best to achieve their goals. To paraphrase LTG Jonathan Oshiro, make your members love service the way you love service.
